An overview of the industry, with a focus on the development of independent film finance is the recommended starting point. Two charts are also included: the first depicts the major events in the evolution of the industry and in the history of film finance; and the second shows the general structure of the industry in terms of industry segments and the major corporate and organizational relationships. In addition to fostering an understanding of the general business dynamics of the film industry, this site will provide ample information about the 2004 Federal tax incentives for motion picture producers. Included are: an overview of the chief incentive (embodied in HR 4520, enacted into law on 10/22/04); a discussion of passive income and losses; and a summary of the at-risk rules (under construction).
